8. How to Whisper SWEET NOTHINGS
How to say simple words to make your partner blush.
In Gary Chapman’s book, 5 love languages he talked about the language words of affirmation. You use words to encourage, affirm, and appreciate. While this comes naturally to some, I have watched many couples struggle to find the words that connect to their partners hearts and ears.
The whisper of a sweet nothing is just a few words that expresses how you feel, or what your partner means to you. You don’t need to be a poet to craft the right thing to say. Simply expressing your heart is the language of the soul.
This episode was inspired as I watched Season 3 Episode of The Medici. The show depicts the love story of Lorenzo and Clarice. It’s far from a your typical perfect romance, but there is a quiet love that resonates through the show.
It made me think we do not need to wait until our loved ones are ill to whisper words of love, adoration or kindness. We can do it day in and day out, so if they were to ever fall ill, they would already know our true love and appreciation for them.

Whispering sweet nothings.
I was watching the TV show The Medici the other night. The show is set in Florance in the late 14th century where the Medici family initially gains success in commerce and banking. The medici family gained control of florance eventually even brining power to rise to popes. There were four popes who were related to the Medici and each other.[2] In the TV show Lorenzo and his wife raise Giovanni de medici and their nephew Giulio de medici.
In the TV show we see the love story of Lorenzo and Clarice. She is a noble girl from Rome, a match that was put in place by Lorenzo’s mother. While Lorenzo was a willful and passionate, Clarice was said to have been pious and reserved, but also quite resilient. While they might not have been a perfect match, they did have a mutual respect for each other and displays some sweet and tender moment. The TV show also an err of distance, avoidance, and difficulty truly expressing wishes and desires. There are moments of intense disagreement, hostility, tears, mistrust and deceit.
In season 3 episode 7 Clarice falls ill. We see Clarice in bed, her skin white as ghost, with Lorenzo learning over her, his fingers rubbing the sides of her face he says “my love, I’m here”. speaking softly to her with tears in his eyes. Lornezo saying “I will never forgive myself for the pain I have caused you,” kissing her tenderly on the forehead and pressing his face against hers.
It made me think we do not need to wait until our loves ones are ill to whisper words of love, adoration or kindness. We can do it day in and day out, so if they were to ever fall ill, they would already know our true love and appreciation for them.

It’s just sharing the truth.
We are hard wired for connection. Lets remember to connect with our loved ones putting our best foot forward to remind them, they are the one we love. I know this is silly, but sometimes I help my clients generate a few statements, that are comfortable and we experiment with trying them out.
